On-calls are split into non-resident at the Royal/Broadgreen and resident at Aintree.
Aintree resident shifts are 13hr shifts. Trauma lists run from 8am-5pm. During the day, you will continue to perform your normal timetabled activity so training opportunities are protected. Nights are resident and are split into a 4 (Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday) and a 3 (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday). After the 4 nights, Monday and Tuesday are rest days. After the 3 nights Thursday and Friday are rest days. Out of hours we are expected to attend the major trauma calls.
Non-Resident (NROC) shifts cover Broadgreen and Royal Liverpool hospital sites. The shifts run from 1500 - 0800. You will be on-site at Aintree from 1500 to 0000 to help with the acute take and see post-op / pre-op patients.

Alder Hey Children’s Hospital
Rota details
On-calls during the week are 24hr shifts with non-resident nights. The pattern is 1 in 7. Over a weekend, on-calls are 48hrs. Monday and Friday are rest days after working a weekend with afternoons scheduled as zero hours following a day time on-call. In the summer time there is a 4 week rolling rota with 2 trauma lists a week. The rest of the time trauma is performed on the emergency list. Registrars undertake two 3 month placements to allow breadth of training.

Arrowe Park (Wirral University Teaching Hospital)
Rota details
On-calls are split into 12hr shifts. Trauma lists run from 8am-8pm (except on a Sunday when they run until 5pm). Nights are resident and are split into a 3 (Saturday, Sunday and Monday) and a 4 (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday). After the weekend nights the rest of the week is allocated rest days. There is a separate elective operating site at Clatterbridge Hospital which is approximately a 10 minute drive away.

On-calls are 24 hour shifts. Typically the following day is a rest day. Weekends are generally 72 hours shifts. There is a dedicated orthopaedic SHO who acts as the first on-call.

On-calls are 24hr shifts with the nights non-resident. You will continue to work the morning session the following day. The rest period is in the afternoon. Weekend on-calls run for 48hrs starting on a Saturday morning. Monday is the rest day following this. Trauma lists run daily from 8am to 5pm.

On-calls are 24hr shifts with the nights being non-resident. The rest period is the following day in the morning or afternoon, depending on which job you're doing. Weekend on-calls run for 72 hrs starting on a Friday morning. Monday is a rest day following this. Trauma lists run daily from 8am to 5pm and 8-1pm on weekends, after which you have to use the emergency theatre.

Rota details
You spend 5 days on-call on site from 8am-8pm during the week, starting on Friday and then the Monday to Thursday the following week with the Friday as a zero day. Trauma theatre runs from 9am-5pm on these days. The weekend is 48hr non-resident on-call starting Saturday morning and you get Friday and Monday as a zero day. Nights on weekdays are non-resident 8pm-8am with telephone handover between SpRs. You are given a zero day the following day.
